I received the (understandably humbling) news from Professor Karen Kovacik, IUPUI’s creative writing director, that my short story “Mistletoe” was selected to represent the English department in the American Writing Programs Intro Journal Awards Competition.

There’s no fooling around here, friends: this particular contest is highly competitive, as AWP receives entries from every creative writing program in the country. Regardless, I’m grateful that the story has been given the opportunity to duke it out with the rest of the selections. I’ve been told that decisions regarding the winning stories aren’t made until later March or early April, 2010. So, of course, there’ll be more news to come.
